Our Predictions for the Jonesboro Open which kicks off April 16th through April 18th in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Obviously, when you start a conversation about predictions for an elite series tournament such as the Jonesboro open, you have to start with Ricky Wysocki and Paul McBeth. These guys are on a different planet again in 2021, as we have come to expect watching the last 10 years of professional disc golf. These guys are locks for the top 8, and we may see another titan battle this weekend. However, there are a number of other guys that consistently slay at “Disc Side of Heaven” and may not be as popular of picks, but we absolutely expect them to show out this weekend.

First, we start with Calvin Heimburg. Calvin actually won this event last year so he is far from a sleeper pick, but Calvin has been the definition of consistency this year. He has finished 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st in major tournaments this year, with a big win last week at the Vintage. We are making him our absolute top 3 lock this weekend, as this course is particularly suited for his game.

Next, we go to Garrett Gurthie. Double G has a history of popping off at Jonesboro, and if you saw his practice round on Brodie Smith’s YouTube channel, you would also predict he finishes at the top once again. Not sure where GG will finish this week, but I would bet serious money that we see him on at least one Jomez lead card this weekend. We predict GG top 8 to be a lock this weekend.

Finally, our sleeper pick this week is the lefty-water skipping phenom from Holland, MI, Reid Frescura. Not only will we see some ridiculous water skips from Reid on the infamous hole 6, we expect him to string some rounds together and make a push for the top 10 this week. It has been a while since we have seen Reid on some post-round coverage, and it just feels like a great weekend for it to happen. We predict Reid to come in with at least a top 15 finish, and to push for a lead card appearance if he can throw a hot first couple rounds.

Paige Pierce. That’s the prediction. Paige hasn’t been in her usual dominant form so far this year, and we have made a couple of missed calls saying she was due for a win. But when you’re talking about the best player in FPO right now, we can’t help ourselves but to keep coming back. Paige scores low this week and shows everyone why she is still on top. Paige wins for the fourth year in a row.

Another name we expect to see on the lead card once again this weekend is Kona Star Panis. Not only does she have a great name, but she has the great game to back it up. She started the season pretty hot then cooled off a touch, but we expect he to get it back on track and make Paige work for it this weekend.
