3 Predictions for The Open at Belton
The Open at Belton presented by Discraft is a DGPT Silver Series event that kicks off Friday morning and concludes Sunday the 21st.

The past 3 weekends have been great for Disc Golf fans, we got to see Eagle dominate in Vegas, McBeth winning at the Memorial... again, and Nikko Locastro take home 1st at Waco. We have also have seen the rising star in Kona Panis take over the FPO in Waco and win the tournament by 12 strokes. We are going into this Silver Series event in Belton, TX with momentum and consistent play for the sports top players.
Last years tournament was missing some of the top names, but Ezra Aderhold came out on top, and Brodie Smith who has been on the climb came in 11th.
However, this is a new year, and we have all of the sports top players. The Open at Belton has some similarities to Waco, with some tricky wooded holes that require touch and some shots where we can see some power. As we saw in Waco, the winner will be the player to remain consistent through all 3 rounds.
Mainstream Disc Golf Predictions
Ricky Wysocki, Kevin Jones and Paul McBeth will finish in the top 6 and are all contenders to win.
This is 100% a redemption pick for us. Last week we predicted that Ricky and Kevin would be on the lead card heading into the final round at Waco. That prediction flopped. But, both of these players are top tier talent and know how to turn around one bad outing. This course suits both of there games and this will likely be a low scoring tournament. McBeth will finish in the top 6 as well primarily because of his consistency and ability to string together 3 solid rounds regardless of circumstance.
Look out for Emerson Keith and Paul Ulibarri as sleepers.
Both of these players are phenomenal but often forgotten when it comes to favorites to win. We expect both to outperform a majority of the field and have potential to make some noise this weekend and contend at the top.
Catrina Allen, Hailey King, and Kona Panis will finish top 5.
The FPO is beginning to gain some momentum. Kona's emergence at Waco was awesome to watch and will put pressure on the field to bounce back this weekend. Without Paige Pierce competing, the tournament is will have room for some new names to compete at the top. For now, you can't bet against Kona while she is playing like this. Catrina is consistent and knows this course well after competing at The Open last year. Lastly, Hailey King will be on the opening lead card with both Catrina and Kona and will match their play out of the gate and compete for 1st when all is said and done.
